چکیده
We prove a vanishing theorem for the p-adic cohomology of exponential sums on An. In particular, we obtain new classes of exponential sums on An that have a single nonvanishing p-adic cohomology group. The dimension of this cohomology group equals a sum of Milnor numbers.

Exponential Sums and Lattice Points Ii
The area A inside a simple closed curve C can be estimated graphically by drawing a square lattice of sides 1/M. The number of lattice points inside C is approximately AM. If C has continuous non-zero radius of curvature, then the number of lattice points is accurate to order of magnitude at most M for any a> §. We show that if the radius of curvature of C is continuously differentiate, then th...
متن کاملA Relation between Fourier Coefficients of Holomorphic Cusp Forms and Exponential Sums
We consider certain specific exponential sums related to holomorphic cusp forms, give a reformulation for the Lehmer conjecture and prove that certain exponential sums of Fourier coefficients of holomorphic cusp forms contain information on other similar non-overlapping exponential sums. Also, we prove an Omega result for short sums of Fourier coefficients.

متن کاملA Survey on Pure and Mixed Exponential Sums modulo Prime Powers
where p is a prime power, epm(·) is the additive character epm(x) = e m and χ is a multiplicative character (mod p). The goals of this paper are threefold; first, to point out the similarity between exponential sums over finite fields and exponential sums over residue class rings (mod p) with m ≥ 2; second, to show how mixed exponential sums can be reduced to pure exponential sums when m ≥ 2 an...
متن کاملOn Sums of Squares of Primes Ii Glyn Harman and Angel Kumchev
Abstract. In this paper we continue our study, begun in [11], of the exceptional set of integers, not restricted by elementary congruence conditions, which cannot be represented as sums of three or four squares of primes. We correct a serious oversight in our first paper, but make further progress on the exponential sums estimates needed, together with an embellishment of the previous sieve tec...
